MILDURA Legacy is calling on the Mildura community to buy a badge during Legacy Week after two years of stalled fundraising activities due to COVID-19.

Legacy Week will be held from Sunday, August 28 to Saturday, September 3 and money raised by Legacy goes to help some of the most vulnerable in the community.

For almost a century, Legacy has kept the promise to thousands of Veteran families, helping provide financial and social support during times of hardship and grief.

For the past two years, COVID-19 and lockdowns have created difficulties for Legacy Week volunteers to fundraise in the community.

Mildura Legacy is hoping that a return to face to face fundraising this year will help to increase donations.

Club president Barry Edwards said the Mildura club currently looks after 180 Veteran families providing services including day trips, education support, holiday camps for Legacy youth, wood supplies during winter and help with electricity and gas heating if needed.

Badges, pens, key rings and Legacy Bears will be available for sale at 11 outlets from Red Cliffs to Wentworth as well as Robinvale and Ouyen.

Nationally, Legacy care for 43,000 beneficiaries including 1300 children and 1100 people with a disability.

In 2023, Legacy will commemorate their centenary with the Centenary Torch Relay presented by Defence Health to mark 100 years of service to those who have sacrificed.
