Sunraysia’s best join new hit

Sunraysia volleyball products Brooke Symes and Dylan Lucchesi are set to feature in the second instalment of the successful Australian Volleyball Super League.

The duo will play for the Melbourne Vipers in year two of the fast-paced tournament, which begins with women and men match-ups against the highly regarded Queensland Pirates in Brisbane tomorrow.

The six-week tournament, which takes elements of franchise competitions from other sports, proved a massive hit in its inaugural season.

Former Mildura athlete Lucceshi, now based in Melbourne, took part in last year’s campaign as as regular member of the Vipers’ starting six.

Australian junior representative and current Mildura Volleyball Academy coach Symes will take part for the first time.

The super league is broadcast on free-to-air TV with added modifications, including changes to scoring and “power plays” where points are doubled to make for fast-paced games.

The opening round will be televised on SBS from 1pm on Sunday.
