SUNRAYSIA-based teachers and students, who work and learn at NSW border schools, are being encouraged to stay at home during the five-day lockdown.
The NSW Education Department said principals at schools such as Coomealla High and Gol Gol Primary were “supporting” staff and students who live in Victorian border communities while they remain under Stage 4 restrictions until Wednesday night.
“Students and staff who are unable to attend school due to the lockdown will be supported to learn and work from home,” the department said in a statement.
“Principals will work closely with families to provide appropriate learning support for students not able to attend school.”
It said that while the restrictions remained in place, “NSW students and staff are discouraged from travelling to Victoria”.
“People who do choose to travel will be required to follow the stay-at-home requirement on their return,” it said.
“We will continue to monitor the situation and keep our community advised of further developments.”
