Aircraft forced to make emergency landing

AN aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Mildura Airport early yesterday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 4am when a smoke detector indicated there was smoke inside the plane.

The aircraft landed safely about 4.15am without incident and a check by Fire Rescue Victoria and Country Fire Authority personnel failed to detect either a fire or smoke.

The incident is believed to have been the result of a faulty smoke detector and the aircraft left Mildura a short time later.
