Mildura meeting to update on rising floodwaters

SUNRAYSIA residents can attend a community meeting this weekend to receive an update about rising floodwaters approaching the region.

The Victoria State Emergency Service will lead the meeting at Mildura Sporting Precinct on Sunday at 4pm.

A livestream will be available on Mildura Rural City Council’s Facebook page.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast the Murray River at Mildura Weir may exceed minor flood level around November 10-12, but the river may reach moderate flood level by the end of the month.

Council chief executive Martin Hawson said residents keen to seek more information should attend the meeting, which will be attended by SES and council staff.

“While we’re not expecting the rising river levels to have the same impact in our region as we’ve seen further upstream in recent weeks, it’s important our community are kept informed and up to date with what we can expect in coming days and weeks,” Mr Hawson said.

“It will provide a chance to stay informed on the latest information and predictions, as well as ask any questions.”
