Parents left frustrated by kinder selection

Demand for select kinder services in Mildura has caused a bottleneck at some centres, with families told they may need to look for alternatives.

AFTER being told they are working through their call back list that stems from Friday when I’ve been calling daily since Friday and still beenunable to talk to anyone or know anyone that’s gotten a call. – Samantha Turvey

COUNCIL’S own priority of access criteria have not been adhered to. – Meg Hume

PLEASE remember this is not the fault of the individual kindergartens and be kind and respectful of the staff. – Kathryn Nolen

YES, absolutely! The kindergartens and staff are amazing and have been just as shocked as the parents on this front. It is completely Mildura Rural City Council run, which is a major error, and they refuse to acknowledge concerns or address that they have severely messed up this round of enrolments. – Frances Feaomoeata

I’VE called council three times now and emailed once, still no answer. I’ve spoken to staff at the kinder that we are hoping to be placed at and they are devastated for the families who have potentially missed out. Let’s hope we get some answers soon. – Sarah Wright

I WAS told I’d receive a call back or an email within 24 to 48 hours. 72 hours later and still nothing. A second call to council and I was told “just wait”. It’s absolutely crazy how it’s been done this year. – Loren Dowdy

SAME! I live two streets away from the kinder, so if we haven’t got a place I’ll be very confused. – Esther Foreman

IT was like this last year, it happened to my son. The council know how many children will be attending kinder. To say there was an influx of children is ridiculous, they know how many people live in their own cities. I believe it shouldn’t be up to the council. – Jamie-Lee Forder

I HAVE already received my email from council offering my son a place. I would’ve thought emails would be all sent out at once? – Crystal-Lee Jenkins

IT’S stupid. The selection/priority criteria is just makes you wonder why to even bother. – Kath Maree

THIS has been so stressful!! – Katy Buchecker

I WONDER if the council will be offering refunds on our rates if our kids miss out on a placement all because they can’t provide adequate infrastructure. Zoning should be the number one priority. – Hailey Nocera

ALLOCATIONS based on most funded groups as top priorities! – Gary Rogers

MY last child is only one and I’m already wondering if she will get a spot in the kinder I want her to go to coz I went there and my other three kids all went there as well and now I’m only a two min walk away from it. – Stacey Alderson
