Mildura business Murray River Salt in Tim Tam collaboration

THE name of a Mildura foodmaker will appear on one of Australia’s classic biscuits.

Among the flavours being released as part of Arnott’s new Tim Tam Crafted Collection is Murray River Salted Caramel, which showcases Sunraysia’s Murray River Salt.

Murray River Salt marketing manager Ailsa Robinson said the company was delighted to become a part of one of Australia’s favourite chocolate biscuits.

“It was just amazing that they called us back and said, ‘Yes, we’d like to look further at the product’ and obviously they had this Tim Tam in mind,” she said.

Ms Robinson said the environmentally friendly nature of the enterprise appealed to Arnott’s.

“The reason they chose Murray River Salt is because of the story behind the salt,” she said.

“They like our story, they love that we’re helping the salinity issue in the region, they like small businesses, so this Crafted Collection they’re doing is looking after Australian small businesses. We really fit into what they were looking for.”

The new flavour has been in the works for months and uses Murray River Salt’s new white salt, which the company has been producing commercially for about a year.

“Arnott’s have chosen this salt because they wanted a little more crunch,” Ms Robinson said.

“I can’t wait to try it now.”

Murray River Salt hopes its new collaboration will lead to more partnerships in the future.

“(Arnott’s) do not miss a beat with any quality control or anything, so the fact that we’ve passed all that is a big kudos to us I think, to know that we’re good enough at that standard,” Ms Robinson said.

“This opens a door that hopefully in the future we can build a good relationship with them.”

Other flavours in the Australian and New Zealand-inspired collection include Sunshine Coast Strawberries and Cream, Gisborne Orange and Dark Chocolate, and Manuka Honey and Cream.
