HATS and fascinators were a must at the ladies’ Oaks Day events on Thursday following Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup.
Sunraysia Cancer Resources hosted its 10th annual Oaks Day event with more than 130 women attending at Sunraysia Masonic Centre.
Fundraising co-ordinator Dot Nash said in the past decade more than $60,000 had been raised for the centre.
“It’s a fun day that gives women a chance to dress up, which doesn’t often happen in Mildura,” Ms Nash said.
“We aim to raise $10,000 each year, with all funds going towards running the centre.”
Sunraysia Cancer Resources volunteers prepared a two-course meal and guests enjoyed a variety of homemade desserts.
Following lunch, women showcased their outfits with Fashions on the Field.
Awards were presented to the two best dressed ladies, best hat and best dressed person over 80.
Gol Gol Hotel was another hot spot, with ladies turning out in their best dresses to the Oaks Day event held there.
