Big numbers for swim carnival

MORE than 650 swimmers have been confirmed to take part in next week’s Victorian Long Course Swimming Champions to be held at Mildura Waves.

Seen as arguably the biggest event on the calendar each year for regional swimmers from across the state, a massive turnout will be set for next week in Sunraysia.

The championships, which will run from Saturday, January 18 to Monday, January 20, will see members from 34 clubs descend upon the area.

Traralgon, who are regular club winners at the long course championships, will have the biggest representation with 79 athletes, with South Gippsland Bass, based out of Wonthaggi, bring 75 and Geelong Swimming Club 64.

Local clubs Mildura and Murray Darling will be represented with 21 swimmers and two swimmers respectively.

After hosting the event previously in 2023, Mildura Swimming Club have hosting rights again this year and in 2027.
