Mildura resident says new traffic islands are driving us mad

NEGOTIATING a residential street in Mildura with a wide vehicle has become an everyday “nightmare” for Campbell Matthies following the introduction of new traffic islands.

But Mildura Rural City Council is adamant there are no design issues with the 150 islands that are being built around town as part of its Cyclist and Pedestrian Safety Project.

Since May, the new traffic islands have been emerging in residential streets ­between Seventh and Sixteenth streets and Benetook and Flora avenues.
