THE newly established flight route between Mildura and Sydney is under a cloud following the announcement that visitors from metropolitan Sydney are barred from Victoria.
Mildura Airport chief executive Trevor Willcock told Sunraysia Daily travellers were being tested for COVID-19 on arrival in Mildura, but he was uncertain whether flights from Sydney would continue under the new restrictions.
“Department of Health and Human Services officers are meeting everyone when they arrive,” he said.
“They’re thoroughly checked in Sydney, or in Melbourne, depending which way they come, then again here.
“We’re hoping with the checks that are in place flights will be able to continue.”
A flight from Sydney was scheduled to land in Mildura on Wednesday afternoon, with a return flight also listed on the departure board.
Another Sydney-Mildura flight was cancelled amid dwindling passenger numbers.
