Home travel service puts world on doorstep

A MOTHER of three with a passion for travel has decided to pivot careers and start up an independent travel agency.

Sarah Beggs launched Connected Travel Mildura in November, which she operates from home.

After taking time off a career in administration during the COVID-19 pandemic while her oldest child was finishing year 12, she decided to return to the workforce.

“I’m mid 40s and it’s always been a passion, instead of slowing down I’m sort of starting to ramp up again,” Ms Beggs said.

“I just thought I still wanted to get into travel so I did a bit of research in how I could do that myself.”

Ms Beggs previously finished a travel course in Adelaide after graduating high school, but did not pursue the career due to a lack of retail experience.

She has since completed a three-month intensive training program through Melbourne-based travel agency Connected Travel.

“The idea of it being home based is you can meet clients either in their house, at a coffee shop, just that little more personal detail and personal touch,” she said.

“I was overseas for Christmas, and was getting client inquiries, and you can work from anywhere because it’s just remote, you can still travel and work at the same time.

“Now’s the time for me to do something that I’ve always wanted to do.
