EXTREME heat timetables will be in place for the V/Line network from Saturday, February 1 to Tuesday, February 4.
“We advise all passengers to plan ahead and check the V/Line website before travelling for the extreme heat timetables, and any changes to their services,” a spokesperson from V/Line said.
“Passengers may wish to consider travelling the cooler parts of the day, or allow for extra travel time, and we encourage anyone going by train or coach to bring along bottled water, and wear cool clothing.”
No V/Line train, scheduled coach, or replacement coach services will operate in a fire district while a catastrophic fire danger rating is in place for that area.
Scheduled coach lines are not expected to be affected by the extreme heat timetable, as it mainly affects train operations.
Trains that usually travel at a speed of up to 160km/h may slow down to 90km/h or less to accompany for steel tracks expanding from the heat, or be replaced by air-conditioned coaches for all, or part of the journey.
