Heat affects train, bus services

EXTREME heat timetables will be in place for all lines on the V/Line network due to forecast hot temperatures on Monday.

Passengers are advised to plan ahead and check the V/Line website for the “extreme heat timetables” and any changes to their services.

Due to the public holiday on Monday, V/Line trains and coaches will be operating to a Saturday timetable.

People are asked to allow extra travel time for the measure, which sees trains slow from up to 160km/h to 90km/h or less because steel tracks expand in the heat.

Passengers are also asked to consider travelling in the cooler parts of the day.

There is drinking water on board V/Line trains and passengers are also encouraged to travel with bottled water and wear cool clothing.

No V/Line train, scheduled coach or replacement coach services will operate in a fire district while a catastrophic fire danger rating is in place for that district.

The latest public transport information is available at vline.com.au or ptv.vic.gov.au and go to traffic.transport.vic.gov.au for traffic updates.
