The beach is back, as visitors vote with their feet

APEX RiverBeach Holiday Park has bounced back in the wake of recent flooding, reporting an unusually busy long weekend.

Park receptionist Amber Milner said they had 42 families staying in the park over the long weekend with all of their cabins fully booked out.

Ms Milner said it felt great to have guests back after the floods.

“Its very good, its good that they’ve all been supporting our business after it flooded and everyone is all happy to be on holiday,” she said.

“We are normally pretty quiet on the long weekend but this weekend it’s actually been really good weather so we’ve had lots of people come through and use the river with their ski boats.”

She said people were excited to be back holidaying.

“We’ve been closed and everywhere else along the Murray has been closed for a few months due to the floods — I would say that’s why everyone come and supported our businesses.”

Ms Milner said she had heard from guests checking that the park was operational and wanted to assure people that everything had reopened.

“We had people making sure that we were open and all our amenities were open and accessible and that the sand bar at the front was open for swimming,” she said.

“The sandbar is popular for locals and tourists they all like to go out there to fish and to do some yabbying.

“Everything is back up and running except our jumping pillow which is still damaged from the floods.”

Ms Milner said staff were now gearing up for Easter which is their busiest time of year.

“We are fully booked at the moment we only have unpowered sites left,” she said.

“We are happy that everyone is coming back and supporting us with their holidays.”
