Burford back to back in junior double

PROMINENT tennis talent Jack Burford has won back-to-back Red Cliffs Lawn Tennis Club junior championships.

The young gun took out his second consecutive A Grade boys’ title, defeating Tague Morris 6-1 in the final.

Burford also doubled up to win the A Grade boys’ doubles alongside Josh Williams, defeating Morris and Derek Bagacay.

Tournament director Rob Keens said it was a great weekend of action.

“We had 111 registrations across the two days: 53 playing singles and 58 in doubles, which was great,” he said.

“There were 12 players in A Grade in a card of six, with the winners of each card meeting in the final.

“There was some really good tennis on display across all grades.”

The Red Cliffs Lawn Tennis Club Championships for senior players begins on Friday.
