Sunraysia winter tennis

SOME teams needed to be regraded after round 3 of winter tennis, so points and percentages in the two grades affected were reset.

Round 4 saw some very close results with the match between Red Cliffs Ratbags and Nichols Point Diamonds in Division 3 being the stand-out match, with only one set and one game separating them.

It was all down to the mixed doubles, with Red Cliffs only needing to win one set of the three sets available, and Cath Banks and Brent Byrnes came through for Red Cliffs. It was a great effort by the other two Nichols Point mixed combinations to get the game points to within one, but Red Cliffs won the sets results.

On Sunday a trial was held for regional kids to be part of the AO Ball Kids program. This is the first time Level 1 trials have been held regionally, and the sun shone for just long enough for the kids to show Tennis Australia Victoria representative Lorey Bentley what skills they had.

Ball Kids will be advised if they have made it through to Level 2 trials and a chance to represent their region at the prestigious event held in January, after the rest of the trials from around Australia have been conducted.
