Twilight fun returns to courts

TWILIGHT corporate tennis will restart next Thursday.

Sunraysia businesses have been invited to enter a team under their business name.

The six-week competition will run until March 25.

Mildura Lawn Tennis Club treasurer Robyn Herberte said the program gave workers the chance to bond with colleagues in a social setting.

“It’s an opportunity to get together, exercise and have a bit of fun,” Ms Herberte said.

“And it’s not a big commitment of time.”

Mixed teams of four players will each play two sets to six.

“We’ve been doing this for seven years and it is just a great, fun night,” Ms Herberte said.

“The first one back after COVID-19 was really fantastic.

“It’s great seeing everyone come down here and get into the tennis.”

She said more than 30 teams had taken part in past years.

“The round just before Christmas had 16 teams,” she said.

The skill level ranges from “total beginner to expert”, Ms Herberte said.

“We’re really urging people to get back into it after COVID and put a team in.”

The club will loan racquets on the night.

Games start at 6.30pm and will be followed with a free BBQ and drinks at bar prices.

The competition costs $8 per player.

Individuals interested in the tournament who do not have a team can contact Ms Herberte on 0412 490 524.
