Dale Schmid claims Ouyen Lawn Tennis Club win

DALE Schmid successfully defended his Ouyen Lawn Tennis Club singles title at the annual Labour Day tournament.

Schmid proved too strong for local player Samuel Mead in the final, winning 6-3, 7-5.

Melbourne-based Schmid was among a large number of players who travelled to Ouyen for the event.

Club president Paul Dean said he was happy with the quality and number of entries for this year’s tournament.

A number of Mildura Lawn Tennis Club (MLTC) members also made the trip down the Calder, with talented junior Paige McLean winning the women’s open singles.

McLean, who recently took out the Red Cliffs tournament, won a close final against another MLTC junior, Brianna Bagnall, 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.
