A hit to celebrate seniors at Red Cliffs Lawn Tennis Club

Senior Victorians and the valuable contribution they make to the community will be celebrated with a host of activities this month.

Back for its 37th year, the Victorian Seniors Festival provides a chance for older Victorians to connect with each other.

The festival will see more than 2500 individual events and fun activities come to life across the state, all aimed at maximising Victorian seniors’ health and wellbeing as well as encourage involvement in community life.

This year’s theme is Get Into It which encourages older Victorians, irrespective of experience or mobility, to learn new skills, make new friends and take part in fun-filled activities.

Red Cliffs Lawn Tennis Club (RCLTC) will be hosting their inaugural seniors tennis event on Friday, October 18, as part of the Victorian Seniors Festival.

This is an opportunity for all present and past players to enjoy a competitive or social game of tennis, have fun and meet new people. The tennis will be followed by a barbecue lunch.

The club hopes this can be the beginning of a regular senior’s event at the club.

But as well as catering for senior players, the RCLTC is encouraging anyone who is interested in having a hit of tennis to come along.

Play will start at 9.45am and end at noon. The cost is $12 and includes lunch and a free copy of the Australian over 50’s living and lifestyle guidebooks for the first 20 entrants.

The format for the day will be section doubles. For more information contact Gavin Lynch: glynch54@bigpond.com or 0400 834 300.
