Mildura Lawn Tennis Club takes a hit

MILDURA Lawn Tennis Club (MLTC) has announced a $20,000 loss for the last financial year.

The MLTC released its financial statements at the club’s annual general meeting held before the first round of summer sectional competition on Saturday.

A decrease in membership, sponsorship and event revenue contributed to the loss.

But despite the disappointing result, the club remains in a strong financial position and is looking forward to turning things around in the coming 12 months.

Chris Hobart was re-elected unopposed as club president for a second term with Robyn Herberte again treasurer and Wendy Dickie club secretary.

Herberte and Dickie were also awarded life membership for their contributions and service to the MLTC.

The opening round of competition saw Sarah Whyte win the ladies Section One from Helen Farlie.

In the men’s top division, Xavier Kendall and Lachlan Flynn had a close battle with Kendall prevailing.

Junior tennis starts Saturday morning.

New and current players are welcome to come along and compete. There are a range of different grades to cater for all standards.
