Business success in the middle of nowhere

Less than a decade ago, Mildura’s Nicola Moras was working as a home finance consultant at a local bank. Now she travels all over the world working with micro-businesses to multi million dollar businesses to build their brand and online reputation. Caitlyn Morgan sat down with the successful online business and marketing strategist to discuss her journey and the recent release of her first book Visible.

WHILE working as a home finance consultant, Nicola knew in order to be successful she needed to offer something different.

“The only thing different was who was working in the bank,” she says.

“The competition was fierce and in order to grow my client base I needed to offer something no one else was, so I began to run workshops, seminars and liaising with local real-estate agents in order to have that point of difference.”

While Nicola was filled with ideas, they were often “knocked on the head internally” before they were implemented, which left her feeling somewhat restricted.

In 2010 she began building her own business from “the middle of nowhere”, working with individuals and companies globally to leverage the power of digital marketing and the online world, “so they can build powerful brands and online reputations, so they can help more of the people they want to help – and make a ton of money doing it”.

“I had trained to be a style and branding coach for business owners and I was trying to juggle my business and the corporate world all while being a mum to three so in 2011 I took a leap of faith and resigned,” she says.

“I (now) work with successful business owners who now want to accelerate and leverage their expertise online. I work primarily with service based business owners who want to create a powerful online presence.

“I lead a kickass group of successful business owners who are all passionate about expanding, growing and helping more people online.

“This business has been built from the ground up. I have personally written more than $4 million in sales directly from coaching and mentoring in four years, regularly travelling around Australia and internationally to deliver training and mastermind events.”

Nicola has clients based around the world including in the UK, Europe, New Zealand, Singapore and many clients in the United States of America.

“If I can build a global business from Mildura, no one has any excuses on why they can’t too,” she says.

“You can do anything from anywhere.”

Using her own knowledge and personal experience, Nicola wrote Visible, which was released in November.

Visible is about business owners “learning to leverage the online world with no bullshit, so they stop struggling and start getting a return on their investment”.

“There is so much bullsh** out there and misinformation with people making it so complicated,” Nicola said.

“This book gives them a framework that anyone can use and that will have them make money.”

Nicola says the response to Visible has been great.

“It was amazing to have the very famous best selling author and transformation wealth coach Chris Howard write the foreword,” she says.

“This is very rare, with it being something he never does.”

So what is next for the busy mum of three? More travelling and she will host a three day Visible Live event in the Gold Coast in August.

“Visible Live shows you how you can use social media for your business gain,” Nicola says.

“(Participants) will learn how to unpack their zone of awesomeness to create meaningful content, learn how to clearly identify their audience, how to build a strong presence online that influences others and how to get a return on investment.

“It’s about learning how they can strategically spend a small amount of time on social media to create visibility, impact and revenue.”

While Nicola has some short-term goals currently in the works, her long-term goals includes growing her US market a lot more and “really grow” to become a visible global brand.
