RED Cliffs star John Jackson is free to continue playing football after being found not guilty of striking by the Sunraysia Football and Netball League independent tribunal tonight.
The Tigers midfielder faced the prospect of de-registration after having previously been de-registered for accumulating 16 weeks of suspension.
Jackson was reported for striking during the Tigers’ win over Robinvale Euston at John James Oval on Saturday. Boundary umpire Ashley Kerridge cited Jackson for striking Andrew Richardson with an elbow during the second quarter.
The multiple-time premiership player entered a not guilty plea and following the hearing the tribunal ultimately came to the same conclusion.
Jackson is free to play for Red Cliffs this weekend against Mildura.
Earlier in the night Red Cliffs teammate Jonty Marciano received a reprimand after being found guilty of striking and is also free to play.
