Appeal for a good cause

RAISING funds for the Good Friday Appeal is “particularly important” this year according to appeal area manager for Mildura, Stephen Krohn.

With COVID-19 restrictions and lockdown in 2020 making it difficult for funds to be raised, things are back on track this year.

According to Mr Krohn since the Irymple CFA first got involved more than a decade ago more than $117,000 has been raised.

“The hospital is certainly rapt with that, when we first told them we would be raising funds from here they were very excited,” Mr Krohn said.

“The first year we raised $4500 and we have stepped it up each year, with the last two years, not including last year we raised just over $18,000 so we would love to get somewhere near that this year especially with not being able to do it last year.”

Funds raised to enables The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne to provide “world class care to our children”.

“There would be kids all the time down there from here, guarantee there isn’t a day that goes by that there isn’t a kid from Sunraysia up there,” Mr Krohn said.

“It’s a world class facility, having dealt with it myself, people come from all over the world to use it and even yesterday we had three different people come up to say their children have been down there and some are still going there.

“For the hospital this fund raising is very important because it goes to a lot of research and speciality equipment that doesn’t get government funded.”

Volunteers will be collecting donations today from Eighth Street and Deakin Avenue and at the Easter Powersports Show and Shine.
