Police seek man over Mildura robbery bid

MILDURA detectives have released an image of a man they want to speak to about an attempted armed robbery.

Mildura crime investigation unit has been told a man and woman were driving along Chaffey Track towards Eleventh Street when they saw a sedan come up behind them about 8pm on July 12.

Police said the pair pulled over to let the white Holden VP Commodore pass, however it continued to follow them.

A short time later the pair pulled over again and stopped, the man got out of his car and an unknown man got out of the Commodore.

He approached the victim armed with an axe and grabbed him while making demands for his phone and wallet.

The victim managed to break free, return to his vehicle and flee.

The man police want to speak to is believed to be Caucasian in appearance, about 181cm tall, with a stocky build and dark hair, and was unshaven.

The victim, a 24-year-old man, and his 23-year-old female passenger were not injured.

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report to www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
