Works continue at Mildura Waves

WHILE Mildura Waves remains closed to combat the spread of COVID-19, works are still underway to complete the facility’s $720,000 overhaul.

Major upgrades began in February this year to transform the family, women’s and men’s change rooms which represent the biggest upgrade to the facilities in more than 20 years.

Work is nearing completion on the men’s change rooms, with new toilets and shower partitions, vinyl flooring and walls now completed.

The entire suite of works are expected to be completed by mid-to-late July 2020.

It comes after the council completed the first phase of upgrade works in May last year, which included replacing the filtration system for the swimming pools, wave pool and spa, repainting and carpeting of the gym area, replacing gym equipment, and internal painting of the pool hall and associated steelwork.

The upgrades are expected to improve user safety and comfort, while also lowering running costs and overall maintenance.

While works continue, the facility and adjacent library services remain temporarily closed in an effort to adhere to social distancing measures enforced by the Federal Government.

The Mildura Visitor Information and Booking Centre is also closed until further notice.
