Conquerors, Kings claim squash spoils

DIVISION 1 favourites Court Conquerors have claimed the 2024 Mildura Squash Spring Pennant title with an emphatic win against the Court Commandoes.

Jumping their rivals, the Court Conquerors were always in control as they easily secured this year’s premier crown on Thursday night.

Court Conquerors’ rising star Luka Baudewyns continued his ominous form, claiming a clutch 3-1 victory to get his side off to a winning start.

Doug Garsed iced the result, hitting clinical shot patterns to win his match in straight sets and give Court Conquerors the victory.

In the last match, Gary Callaway overcame a slow start to topple Wade Stephens and secure a consolation victory for Court Commandoes.

On Wednesday night, the division 2 grand final saw the top team Squash Storm up against late chargers Court Kings.

Emma Oliver got Court Kings off to a fast start with a straight-sets win before Phil Baudewyns put the result beyond doubt with his biggest win of the season.

Tim Noack claimed the only match victory for Squash Storm, with a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Brody Tanner.

All that remains for the calendar year is to decide who will be the club champion for 2024.

Matches in an elimination format have already begun. There are division 1 men, division 2 men, women and junior boys under-19s.

The finals will be played on Thursday, December 5.
