Saints finish season undefeated

BAMBILL completed an undefeated regular season with a 70 18 rout of bottom side Gol Gol in Millewa Football Netball League A Grade

Quarters of 14, 16, 19 and 21 goals while restricting the Hawks to just 18 clearly show the Saints are ready for finals action.

Centre Kaylie Monaghan was best on court in a team full of winners, including Tayla Davison-Amao and Breigh Hammet, and they will be looking forward to their qualifying final clash against Cardross at the same venue this weekend.

Meanwhile, the Hawks will be looking forward to a nice long break after a one-win season.

Abbey Curren, Maka Clarke and Jarae Johnson again put in solid efforts, but major changes are going to be needed at Gol Gol if they are to challenge the league’s best sides in 2026.

Down south, reigning premiers Nangiloc completed their regular season campaign with a thumping home win over Werrimull.

Now the sides get to meet again in this weekend’s MFNL A Grade elimination final at Gol Gol.

On current form, the surging Demons would appear to be unbackable favourites, and their 26-goal rout of the Pies adds credence to that.

Nangi were never seriously challenged by the visitors and increased their lead at each break on their way to a 56-30 romp.

Goalers Amber King and Chloe Nelson were again at the forefront for the high-scoring Dees while defender and coach Ginine Sluiter led from the back.

The Magpies will hardly be flying high heading into the rematch but can take some heart from the efforts of centre Erin Sell, Tammie Ehms and veteran Brooke Watson.

Cardross sealed the double chance with a comfortable 20-goal victory over the Meringur down by the Lake.

The Kangaroos put up a solid fight in the first half but faded after the break as Cardy piled on 28 goals to 12.

Georgia Leutner and defenders Lily Thompson and Gypsy Gange led the way for the Lions while Bella Connell, Madelyn McPhee and Christina Villiva battled it out for the Roos, who finished the season fifth with a 5-10 record.
