Eagles prove they are the real deal

ROBINVALE Euston cemented their place in the top three with a convincing 61–41 win over Imperials in Round 14 at Brian Weightman Oval.

From the outset, the Eagles imposed themselves with sharp ball movement and intense defensive pressure, adapting well to a strong breeze.

Their slick transition through the midcourt, led by Taneh Romeo and Belle Giofrelle, set up consistent supply to in-form shooters Sarah Hepburn (38 goals) and Georgia Giofrelle (23), who hit the scoreboard with precision.

Imperials made key positional changes in the second quarter, shifting Kia Scott into the goal circle alongside Ebony Ietto and moving Meg McManus into defence. The impact was immediate, as the home side matched the Eagles goal-for-goal, narrowing the margin to nine at the main break. Ietto (13), Scott (12), and McManus (16) combined for a steady output across the game.

Despite Imperials’ lift, the third term saw Robinvale reassert dominance. Jorja Delcastenge was outstanding in defence, applying relentless pressure and setting up play from the back alongside Kirsten Neyland and Georgie Kelly. The Eagles pulled away, extending their lead to 18 points at the final change.

The last quarter saw Robinvale’s composure shine through, with Delcastenge again pivotal, cutting off multiple passes and launching counterattacks. The Eagles closed out the match in clinical fashion, running out 20-goal winners.

Best on court for the Eagles was Delcastenge, whose aerial reach and game sense disrupted the Imps’ attack all afternoon. For Imperials, Kia Scott and Maddy McManus stood out with their tireless work rate.

Robinvale Euston now look ahead to a big clash against in-form Mildura next week. As the Imperials travel to meet Ouyen United.
