Bulldogs hold strong against Robinvale

UNDER grey skies and a cool breeze at the Mildura Sporting Precinct, South Mildura claimed a hard-fought victory over Robinvale Euston in a physical and entertaining encounter on Saturday.

The Bulldogs came out with intent in the opening term, energised by the home crowd and led by the sharp shooting of S. Lane under the post.

Their strong start saw them jump to a 15–9 quarter-time lead, despite a late surge of four consecutive goals from Eagles shooters Sarah Hepburn and Georgia Giofrelle.

Defensive and midcourt intensity was high from both teams, with Eagles’ Kirsten Neyland and Taneh Romeo impressing early in WD and C respectively.

The second quarter remained tight, with Robinvale Euston finding rhythm in the attacking third, but South Mildura edged further ahead.

Amy Lutze was pivotal in the midcourt, consistently linking defence to attack and helping the Bulldogs extend their lead to 10 goals at the main break, 29–19.

Robinvale Euston lifted after halftime, applying pressure across the court and capitalising on turnovers.

Despite their efforts, including strong work from Delcastenge through GD and continued run from Neyland, the Bulldogs managed to steady, thanks in part to Reagan Zaxos’ relentless efforts on the wing, keeping South Mildura in front 38–29 at the final change.

The Eagles continued to push in the final term, matching the Bulldogs goal for goal, but South Mildura’s control and composure kept the visitors at bay.

A consistent pace and structured play ensured the Bulldogs closed out the game comfortably.
