Bulldogs get it done in nailbiter at Robinvale

SOUTH Mildura secured a hard-fought two-goal victory over Robinvale Euston at John James Oval on Saturday, with a 52 to 50 final scoreline highlighting the fierce contest between two sides who were both chasing first wins of the season.

The Eagles started strongly, edging ahead 14 to 12 at the first break, capitalising on early momentum.

But South Mildura responded with grit in the second quarter, overturning the deficit to lead by one at halftime.

Young win attack Evie Priest impressed in just her second A Grade outing, showing poise and control in the midcourt.

The third quarter saw tensions rise and Robinvale Euston were reduced to just four players momentarily due to discipline issues.

That allowed the Bulldogs to extend their lead to four goals heading into the final term.

In a thrilling final quarter marked by relentless defensive pressure, both sides showed resilience.

Playing coaches Georgia Giofrelle (19 goals) and Tara Bate stood tall, delivering standout performances under pressure.

Despite a strong showing from Eagles shooter Sarah Hepburn (31 goals), South Mildura held on in the dying minutes to claim the win.

While Robinvale Euston may have fallen short, their competitive edge was on full display in what promises to be a spirited season ahead.
