Dees stars take coaching roles

STAR Mildura netballers Jess McNamara and Ava Zadow have been named as the Demons’ joint A Grade coaches for the 2025 Sunraysia Football and Netball League season.

The duo step into the role after Ellie Vincent was at the helm last season.

Both selected in the SFNL A Grade Team of the Year for the past two seasons, McNamara and Zadow will take the reins of the team for the first time.

McNamara made an immediate impact when she arrived at the club in 2022, winning the Jackie Horkings Medal and club best and fairest in her first campaign.

Mostly known for her exploits as a shooter, the athletic McNamara can play any position and was a vital member of the Mildura team that made a grand final and preliminary final in the past two seasons respectively.

Still just 19, Zadow will become on of the youngest coaches in the region after coming through the red and blue junior ranks.

The versatile and athletic teenager has emerged as one of the competition’s best players in the past couple of seasons, equally adept at playing a key role in defence or as a shooter with her ability to intercept among the best in the competition.

Alongside the Dees’ best and fairest, Zadow also won the inaugural A Grade MVP award this year as voted by her peers.

As a club renowned for developing junior talent, the new coaches are set to work with emerging netballers in younger grades as well.
