Kangas continue winning ways

IT was business as normal for Ouyen United, who led from start to finish en route to a 64-42 win over Red Cliffs.

The Kangas won every quarter, scored prolifically and controlled the ball better than their opposition.

Kangas coach Kyra Nathan was most impressed by her side’s control.

“We were disciplined to not throw the ball away,” she said. “We had the expectation today to treasure the ball and have two leads to every ball and we did that today.”

Catherine Brown continues to improve as an attacking option for the Kangas, while Ellen Morrish stamped her authority on the game in another brilliant performance in the midcourt.

“Cat’s timing was really good today and even got a few intercepts, which is always great as an attacker,” Nathan said.

“(Morrish) played both WA and C really well today and she cleaned up with four or five intercepts in the last quarter.”

Despite the loss, Romany Bowen was looking at the positives from her side’s performance.

“It was a good game of netball and we always enjoy playing against Ouyen,” Bowen said, “they’re a real class act.”

After their loss to Merbein last week, the Tigers were focused on the basics.

“We wanted to bring pressure and play as a team and we did that today. I don’t think the scoreline reflects how well I thought we played today,” Bowen said.

Zara Copley and Jasmin Parker were in the Tigers’ best and are fundamental to how the team works.

“They are so pivotal to our team. If they are down, the whole team falls apart,” Bowen said.

“Jasmin really stepped up in her GA role today. They are still so young, which I sometimes forget.”
