Spring in their step

COMPETITORS from metropolitan areas were impressed by the facilities at the Netball Spring Carnival this weekend at the Mildura Sporting Precinct.

Despite no local teams winning at the event, Mildura Netball Association president Alana Mills said it was a successful outing.

“It was a really well-received weekend, had a lot of positive feedback, people had a great time and enjoyed the weather,” she said.

“All the people from Melbourne were blown away by how much the precinct had grown and changed since last year, they think the facility is amazing. The council did an amazing job to have it so clean after the grand final weekend.”

Mills said the annual event provided families with an additional reason to visit Mildura and she could see it continuing to grow in the future.

“We’re looking to grow it even bigger next year so we will definitely be reaching out to some more associations perhaps some regional organisations to go alongside all the metro ones,” she said.

A total of 40 teams from outside of Sunraysia competed at the carnival while just seven local teams were involved.
