Nangiloc a step closer to historic netball premiership

NANGILOC is just one win away from a maiden Millewa A Grade netball premiership after fighting off arch-rivals Bambill 46-39 in their qualifying final on Saturday.

Shooter Chloe Nelson was best on court for the Dees, who advanced to the grand final on Saturday, September 2.

Demons co-coach Tamara Loveridge said “the fire in our bellies” laid the foundations for the team’s success against the Saints.

“The expectation was to work our backsides off each quarter and we knew we had a quality bench to bring on if we had to,” the dynamic centre said.

“Our defence was sensational. It’s always a shot-for-shot game against Bambill, so our defence was always going to be crucial to us getting the win.”

Asked whether the team would use the week off the rest up or keep working hard at training, Loveridge said: “We’ve all got mixed thoughts on it.

“We’ll have a review of what worked and what didn’t against Bambill, and work on the stuff we need to get right.

“But in terms of physicality, I think we need to relax and not too much pressure on ourselves.

“We haven’t won an A Grade grand final before, so we have plenty of motivation for the big one.”
