Our top five SFNL netball stars

SUNRAYSIA Daily’s sports team has come up with a list of the best 25 SFNL A Grade netballers this season and we’re counting them down. Here’s the top five.

5. Courtney Wakefield (Wentworth)

Formed a brilliant combination in defence with Nat Vercher. A fierce competitor who is shining in local netball after a celebrated AFLW career. Named among her team’s best seven times this season.

4. Nat Vercher (Wentworth)

Reads the play as well as any defender in the competition. An intercept queen, physical in the contest, quick to turn defence into attack and a pivotal member of the all-conquering Roos team.

3. Catherine Brown (Ouyen United)

Showing great versatility in 2023. The elite defender has been starring in attack for the Kangas. Named among her side’s best six times this season. Her experience is crucial to her team’s top-four chances.

2. Jess McNamara (Mildura)

The reigning Jackie Horkings Medallist is backing it up with another commanding season in attack for the Dees. Her natural athleticism, shooting and leadership qualities are elite.

1. Amanda Edwards (Wentworth)

Absolutely supreme in the goal circle for the Roos. Leads by example, has a deadly shot and is near-unstoppable one-on-one. A big reason why the Roos are unbeaten since the 2019 grand final.
