Pies face the Demon test

WERRIMULL’s A Grade netballers have a tough battle on their hands when they face the Millewa league’s toughest team on Saturday.

The Pies, who are third, will need to leave everything on the court if they want to be successful against unbeaten Nangiloc.

The Demons, who will be playing at home, have shone on the court despite not having their whole team available for the first five rounds this season.

Nangiloc have proved each week that they have one of the strongest defensive outfits in the league, particularly when defeating Bambill last week.

Nangiloc co-coach Tamara Loveridge has been named among the team’s best in every game this season.

She has been backed well on the court by Chloe Nelson, Tess Thompson, Gabby Gardner and co-coach Ginine Sluiter.

Werrimull have been led this season by Aislinn Campbell, Maddison Maher and Cassie Morris.

In Gol Gol, Cardross will be eyeing their first win of the season when they face the fourth-placed Hawks.

The bottom side have not secured a win yet this season, but have been close to victory several times.

During their last game against Golly, the Lions lost by only three goals.

The past two rounds may have knocked down the Lions’ confidence, however, as they lost to Nangiloc by 30 goals and Werrimull by 29.

Gol Gol have had the opposite experience, rebuilding some confidence with a comfortable Mega Day win last week against Meringur.

Amy Hunt has been a key player for the team, named best in every game this season.

At Lake Cullulleraine, Bambill will likely secure another win, but it won’t come easy as Meringur have proved they are fighters.

The Kangaroos have one win this season, whereas Bambill have lost only one game.

All matches begin at noon.
