Rematch a test for Gol Gol

BAMBILL and Gol Gol’s A Grade netballers will go head to head on Saturday, hoping to redeem themselves after their round 1 draw.

Reigning premiers Bambill and last season’s bottom-of-the-ladder Gol Gol finished this season’s opening game with a score of 42-all.

Both sides are hoping they have adapted their play and gelled well enough to be one step ahead of their opponents.

Bambill have yet to be defeated this season, taking home wins against Werrimull, Meringur and Cardross.

They are yet to play Nangiloc, however, who have won all four of their games.

Coach Samantha Garraway said the team had been working on a few things ready for the rematch and said her girls had settled well.

“Having a few rounds with all the new girls that we have got in our team, (we have been) using those to gel together and work each other out,” she said.

“We have a really good group of girls all across all grades, it has been really good to work with.”

Garraway said everyone on the team had been doing their part and working together as a team to succeed on the court.

“So far so good for the girls, they have all been doing their roles perfectly and it is slowly starting to come together which is good,” she said.

After the round 1 draw, Gol Gol defeated Cardross, before losses to Werrimull and Nangiloc.

Coach Sarah Allen said despite the losses, her team were feeling confident.

“The girls have had plenty of court time now, which has allowed them the opportunity to figure out each player’s game style,” she said.

“We are determined to improve on the last time we met Bambill and secure a win, but I’m certain Bambill will be equally so.”

Allen said she was privileged to see the Hawks improve each week from the sideline.

“As we come up against teams the second time around I’m excited for the girls to also experience and acknowledge how they have improved,” she said.

Meanwhile, at Lake Cullulleraine, Werrimull will face Meringur, who have only one win so far, and yet-to-win Cardross will face unbeaten Nangiloc at home.
