Pace-setting Dees look to stymie Roos

THIS Saturday is set to be a day of tough contests for the Millewa’s A Grade netball teams.

All six teams have their eye on the top-of-the-ladder position and will be fighting it out on the court to secure themselves a win.

Nangiloc have been holding onto top spot so far, remaining undefeated ahead of round 4.

The Demons will no doubt be aiming to extend their winning streak when they take on Meringur at home on Saturday.

The Roos secured their first win of the season in a close match against Cardross last weekend, but will have to pull out the big guns if they want to defeat Nangiloc.

Gabrielle Gardner and co-coach Tamara Loveridge have stood out on the court for Nangiloc, while Meringur have been led by Tegan Pettigrew, Susie Wilson and coach Madelyn McPhee.

At the Lake, Gol Gol will take on Werrimull, with both teams eager to secure a second win.

Werrimull has a convincing defeat of Meringur in round 1, winning by 27 goals, but were defeated by Nangiloc and Bambill in the following two rounds.

Gol Gol drew with Bambill in round one, before defeating Cardross in round 2.

The Hawks had their first loss of the season against Nangiloc last weekend.

It is likely to be a competitive match between the two fiery sides, with fourth-placed Werrimull eyeing off Gol Gol’s third place on the ladder.

Expected to perform well for Werrimull is Madison Maher and for Gol Gol, Amy Hunt and Abbey Lovell.

In the Millewa’s third and final game, bottom-of-the-ladder Cardross will be taking on second-placed Bambill at home.

Cardross, who have yet to get a win this season, will be aiming to give their all on the court when they face the reigning premiers.

The Lions have had a few close games, only losing to Nangiloc and Gol Gol by three goals and Meringur by two. But Bambill have defeated both Meringur and Werrimull and drew with Gol Gol in round 1.

Top performers for Cardross have been Charlotte McKendrick and Emily Gleeson.

Top performers for Bambill have been Tess Houkamau, coach Samantha Garraway and Kylie Monaghan.

All three games begin at 12pm.
