Coaches setting team theme

COACH: Ginine Sluiter and Tamara Loveridge

ARRIVALS: Ash Loveridge, Kristy Middleton

DEPARTURES: Kathy Carusella, Cindy Hannig, Caitlin Finch, Rhianna Gove, Sophie Carney

DESPITE losing a large selection of last season’s grand final team, Nangiloc is building on its remaining strengths with new players and a new co-coaching duo.

Nangiloc are coming into this season with some fresh faces after losing a large portion of last season’s team.

The side will be coached by existing players Ginine Sluiter and Tamara Loveridge, after the departure of Kathy Carusella to Ouyen United.

“We have lost a few players,” Sluiter said.

“But we have gained some fresh faces and promoted some other players from (inside the club).”

Sluiter said it was disappointing to lose key players, but believed the team would still have success this year regardless.

“We are looking good, we have strong defence and strong attacking,” she said.

“Basically from last season we have a shooter, centre court and defender and we have filled between that. There are definitely some strengths from what we had before and we have built on that with the new players.”

Sluiter said she and Loveridge were looking forward to the coaching challenge this year and believed their teamwork and determination would help the team improve.

“From what (Kathy Carusella) has taught us in the past and what we are working on for the future we should be able to get some success again this year,” she said.

“We are pretty happy with it and we are looking forward to working together and seeing how we are going to go this season.”

Sluiter said Loveridge had worked hard with the team during preseason which had helped with overall fitness.

She said now, they were focused on improving gameplay.

“Obviously with the changes there it will feel different as a club and it will take a bit of time to get used to,” she said.
