A STELLAR line-up of Millewa netball players are ready to shine on the court on Saturday as the representative team take on the Mallee Tigers for the first time.
The team features new players to the Millewa like Gol Gol’s Abbey Lovell and experienced players and coaches including Cardross’ Ebony Greenhill, Meringur’s Madelyn McPhee and Nangiloc’s Ginine Sluiter.
With most of the girls aged in their mid-20s, Brooke Oosting will be the youngest at 19. But she has years of experience playing and coaching behind her.
Coach Brooke Watson said the team was excited to be part of the Dreamtime at the P weekend.
“(The girls) are saying it’s good to play with girls you usually play against and get to know them more than just an hour on the court and that’s it,” she said.
Watson said the team had held a few training sessions and practice matches to get the girls used to the new team dynamic.
She said they were also looking forward to playing indoors at the Mildura Sporting Precinct.
Watson said the team weren’t sure what to expect come game day, with little knowledge of the opposition.
“We haven’t actually heard who is in their team so we aren’t sure what to expect, but we will probably go out and see what the first quarter is like and adapt from there,” she said.
The Millewa versus Mallee Tigers game is scheduled to begin indoors at 2.30pm.
