Dream opportunity for Millewa netballers

DREAMTIME at the P is a huge opportunity for Millewa netballers to push for further representative contests.

An A Grade squadron of top talent will take to the court in the Millewa Netball Association’s first representative contest since 2012 to take on the Mallee Tigers next Saturday.

The match will be a prelude to the SFNL City and Country All Stars clash at Mildura Sporting Precinct.

Millewa Netball Association vice-president Alana McGregor said the Dreamtime game is one the nine-player squad won’t take for granted.

“For most of our girls this is big of an opportunity as they’ll get playing within the Millewa, and potentially even in their netball careers,” she said.

“This is such wonderful opportunity and it’s great to be involved in it.

“Not only is it for now but going forward hopefully we can use this as chance to promote being involved in further interleague and representative opportunities.”

McGregor said there would be some familar faces in the Mallee Tigers line-up, with a number of players either current or former Millewa netballers.

“There are a few new faces for us to come up against, while some of the girls have played in the Millewa before,” she said.

“So they’re basically a new team to play against and provide us an opportunity to play against some fresher faces.”

McGregor said all looks promising for the upcoming home and away season with clubs fielding strong numbers across the competition.

“Trainings are well underway and most teams have all got juniors (at both Under 15 and Under 18 level) which we’ve had off and on for the past few years,” she said.
