WENTWORTH will head into the finals as the dominant force in SFNL netball.
With one round left, the Roos are unbeaten after 17 rounds in the A-grade competition, while Wentworth (12-2-1) also leads C grade.
The Roos’ B grade (13-2) and C Reserve (12-2-1) sides sit in second spot in their respective competitions, as the club enjoys a stellar netball season across all grades.
In A grade on Saturday, Amanda Edwards’ 15-0 side put fourth-placed South Mildura to the sword 60-27 indoors at Mildura Sporting Precinct on Saturday.
Natalie Vercher and Molly Young led the way for the Roos, while classy centre-courter Maddison Toms and Raquel Ban put up a good fight for the Bulldogs.
The flag is clearly the Roos to lose after sweeping all comers this season.
At Robinvale on Saturday, Ouyen United were ultimately more composed in the clutch moments despite missing a few regulars.
The Kangas won their hard-fought contest against the Eagles by 10 goals.
The opening quarter was a tight affair with the quarter-time score 9-apiece.
During the second quarter, there were momentum swings. The Kangas were able to build a four-goal break early, but the Eagles pegged that margin back to just one goal at half-time.
In the second half, the Kangas’ experience came to the fore.
With more focus and precision with the ball, they were able to build their lead, winning the two second-half quarters by five goals and four goals, respectively, to run out comfortable winners.
For the victors, veteran Casey Crothers was composed in defence, while Ellen Morrish was ever-present in transition and feeding into the goal ring.
The efforts of Isabelle Giofrelle served Robinvale Euston well in the centre court, while Shakira Hingano had a strong game in defence.
In other A-grade games on Saturday, Johannah Gray and Sophie Gray led seventh-placed Merbein to a 42-31 win against eighth-placed Red Cliffs at Quandong Park.
Ashlee Manzie and Sarah Carn impressed for the Tigers, who have made great strides forward in 2022 after a lengthy winless drought.
At Mildura Recreation Reserve, fifth-placed Imperials edged sixth-placed Irymple 51-42.
Imps were best served by Kia Scott and Bridget Bennett, while Shakara Delcastegne and Sophie Price were the Swallows’ best.
The top four is now settled after the weekend’s matches.
The high-flying Roos will be minor premiers and strong favourites to win the flag.
Mildura (second, 13-2), Ouyen United (third, 11-3-1) and South Mildura (fourth, 7-7-1) will round out the teams competing in the finals.
