Robinvale unveils new netball courts

ROBINVALE netballers have rejoiced at the completion of their brand new courts, which were unveiled earlier this week at Riverside Park.

Robinvale ward councilor and netballer Jade Benham was among them.

“After so many long years of planning, working and scoping we now have three brand new netball courts in Robinvale,” Cr Benham said,

“There’s been several community and committee members both past and present who have really worked hard over many years, including some council officers who started work on this project years ago.

“It’s given the club and the whole community a big lift — they’re beautiful, they’re bright and as a Robinvale netballer, I feel like we’re now part of the club as a whole rather than shoved out of the way in the corner.”

The state of the facilities at Riverside Park had been an ongoing issue, with locals banding together in 2018 to form the Riverside Park user committee, which featured a representative from seven of the town’s sporting clubs.

Cr Benham said the addition of new changerooms and reserve entry to Riverside Park will contribute to a “fantastic sporting precinct” in Robinvale.

“Sport is one thing that really unites the community,” she said.
