A SUPERB performance in his first-ever race outside Victoria has boom greyhound youngster Morton well in contention for Thursday night's Group 2 Queensland Derby final at Albion Park.

Despite drawing box five, Mildura owner Darrell Heathcote and Lara trainers Jason and Jessica Sharp are confident the two-year-old can perform in the $75,000-to-the-winner derby final.
