A-League’s ‘Murray Classico’ returns

A-LEAGUE teams are set to visit Mildura for another year running this October, with some of the competition’s premier names heading to town for the momentous charity occasion.

The One Agency Festival of Sport has been announced to return by The Mildura Base Public Hospital Foundation where Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United will take to the field at the Mildura Sporting Precinct going head-to-head on Saturday, October 4.

The clash between two of the country’s biggest titans of football will operate as the centrepiece of the festival and charity fundraiser for the MBPH Foundation.

“It is going to be another great sporting occasion for the people of Mildura and the wider Sunraysia to enjoy, and indeed also for people from outside the region who will travel here for the event,” said MBPH Acting CEO Matthew Jukes.

“The excitement is already building, and I think for families of young football players, it will be a fantastic opportunity to attend both the clinic and the matches on Saturday and make a great weekend of it.”

The action will kick off the day prior, Friday, October 3, with a children’s football clinic at the Aero Ovals hosted by both of the travelling teams.

Saturday’s program will also feature a Tri-Series game, bringing together amateur footballers representing Sunraysia, the Riverland, and Adelaide.

Caroline Carnegie, Melbourne Victory managing director said the 2025 A-League grand finalists were ecstatic to be brought into the event alongside Adelaide United who were joined by Brisbane Roar and Western United last year.

“Melbourne Victory is delighted to be coming to Mildura in October for what will undoubtedly be a brilliant event,” said Carnegie.

“To be involved in the MBPH Foundation’s A-League charity fundraiser is a real pleasure for us as it aligns with the values we hold dear as a club.”

“We hope this is the first of many games we can bring to Mildura.”

Adelaide United CEO Nathan Kosmina said he was delighted for the club to come back for the festival in Mildura after last year’s success.

“Our players and all of our coaching and support staff and importantly our fans had a ball in Mildura last year,” Kosmina said.

“Meeting our rivals Melbourne Victory head-on at the Mildura Sporting Precinct, is going to see a highly competitive match played.”

“We can’t wait to be there in October.”

Tickets for the One Agency Festival of Sport are available via the Mildura Arts Centre website.
