S-League returns

THE first cycle of match-ups are in the books for the Football Federation Sunraysia S-League as senior men’s teams now face each other for a second time.

S-League had been on hiatus for the past two weeks to allow for the successful hosting of the Victorian Country Leagues Football Association Country Championships in Mildura.

Upon the return of the home-and-away season, Nichols Point will look to take it up to heavyweights Irymple Knights, who can potentially jump past Mildura City, who have the bye.

The Pointers came off a 1-0 result against Mildura United in their past encounter, giving them two consecutive wins, but will come up against Knights and City over the next two rounds.

Nichols Point went down to Irymple 2-1 in the first game of the season and gave a strong account of themselves.

Bottom of the table duo Three Colours and Mildura United are both looking to break the winning drought when they come head to head.

Somewhat ironically their opening round contest ended in a 1-1 draw after goals from Oktay Samet and Kien Nguyen, respectively.

The senior women’s contest between Nichols Point and Mildura City took place on Friday night.
