Knights look to regain momentum

FOLLOWING the success of Sunraysia at last week’s Junior Country Championships, the S-League competition resumes with round 7 this weekend.

In the senior men’s competition, the Irymple Knights will be looking to resume their winning ways as they take on Nichols Point on Sunday.

After a two-week break, Knights will be eager to regain their momentum and secure the three points.

However, they’ll be facing a tough challenge as Nichols Point aims to bounce back from their defeat to Mildura United in the previous round.

Nichols Point’s defence will undoubtedly be put to the test against Knights, who possess a wealth of attacking options.

One player to watch for Knights is Keiran Burrows, who has been in a rich vein of goal-scoring form.

With his recent performances, Burrows will be motivated to continue finding the back of the net.

Another key figure for Knights is striker Chris Romeo, who hasn’t scored since their previous encounter with Nichols Point in Round 2, although he has missed two games.

In the second men’s match, Mildura United will face a formidable opponent in the league leaders, Mildura City.

United has made significant strides since the beginning of the season, securing their first win in round 6 against Nichols Point.

However, they will face a stern test against the dominant City side.

With six rounds of competition completed, City boasts an impressive scoring record but more importantly possesses the league’s best defensive record, having conceded only one goal all season.

City’s backline of Jacob Rodi, Lukas Pedder, Samuel Bozzi and Joseph Muscatello have been outstanding this season and United will need to dig deep and showcase their progress to challenge City’s supremacy.

Turning our attention to the S-League women’s competition, Mildura City are set to lock horns with Nichols Point.

In their previous encounter, City displayed sheer dominance with a resounding 11-0 victory.

Eager to strengthen their defensive efforts, Nichols Point will be determined to thwart the undefeated City this time around.

City, on the other hand, will be aiming to maintain their relentless attacking form and continue their impressive winning streak. Keep an eye on young gun Chenoa Hunter, who in her first year at Mildura City is making a name for herself in front of goal, currently leading the league goal scoring.
