ONE player has received a lifetime suspension and 13 players received bans totalling 65 years after Football Victoria found all guilty of bringing the game into disrepute through their involvement in a violent attack on opposition players and a match official at Mildura’s Old Aerodrome Ovals in July.
The FV tribunal adjudicated on Wednesday evening that the actions of 14 players, who had represented Three Colours Football Club during a Football Federation Sunraysia reserves match against Irymple Knights, were of a “severe and/or significant violent” nature.
The incident, which occurred on July 10, resulted in three people being taken to hospital.
Six Mildura men are facing affray charges over the incident.
One player is now banned from participating in the sport, while 13 players received five-year bans. Their return will depend on completing a Football Victoria-approved respect and responsibility workshop.
Sunraysia Daily understands Three Colours was handed a large fine for failing to control members of the Three Colours Red reserves team.
All players and Three Colours had a five-day window to appeal the decision.
Football Federation Sunraysia has been contacted for comment.
Three Colours president Lucy Fotia said the behaviour that led to the sanctions could “never be excused” and said the club accepted the tribunal’s decision.
Ms Fotia said the behaviour did “not accord with the values of the club, the sport or the community”.
