Big boost for girls’ soccer

GIRLS wanting to play soccer in Mildura will have more opportunities to get active as coronavirus restrictions ease.

Mildura United will receive $2100 in Active Club Grant funding to partner with community service providers to implement their first girls’ under-13 team.

This includes providing Hijabs for girls from Muslim communities so they can play with suitable uniforms.

With junior sport competitions kicking off and non-contact sport resuming for adults, many Victorians are keen to stay healthy and get active again.

Member for Northern Victoria Wendy Lovell said the funding would enable Mildura United to provide more opportunities for girls to improve their health through playing sport.

“This funding will make it even easier for girls in the Mildura electorate to get active and reconnect with others in their community while keeping safe from coronavirus,” Ms Lovell said.
